Morning Pages
By“What are morning pages? Put simply, the morning pages are three pages of longhand writing, strictly stream-of-consciousness: “Oh, god, another morning. I have NOTHING to say. I need to wash the curtains. Did I get my laundry yesterday? Blah Blah Blah. They might also more ingloriously, be called brain drain, since that is one of their main functions. There is no wrong way to do morning pages… the morning pages are the primary tool of creative recovery,” from The Artist’s Way says Julia Cameron.
Try them; they’ll work for you, Bud.

I used to write morning pages and found I was sometimes writing “I’ve run out of things to write about, I don’t know what to write next”. I found it motivating to write the pages because I had done something proactive, but never felt the creative benefits other people have mentioned.
I am starting to review one of my old journals that contains morning pages, it will be interesting to notice if I did get more benefit than I remember.
Thanks for your comment , Kate. Let me know what you discern from your review. I am a evening pages person but I have started to do visual journal morning pages; I always have a “feeling about the coming day” that I can journal and draw about.
hey thanks!! very useful !!
Thanks, Zavese. I appreciate the compliment. Use it often.
